Blue Bird Micro Bird Diesel

Safety

At Blue Bird, safety is our top priority. All Micro Bird buses are reinforced by heavy-gauge steel side-impact barriers that incorporate the seat rail for extra protection. Integrated child seats and three-point lap and shoulder seat belts are available for enhanced safety and versatility. A “more view” window and fully glassed entry door maximize the driver’s view of students entering and exiting. We build safety into the Micro Bird, from the one-piece galvanized steel roof bows to superior LED external lights. The optional wheelchair lift operates smoothly and is fully ADA-compliant. Floor pocket anchorages for wheelchairs offer safe and secure transport for special needs passengers.

Adding to health protection for students and improved air quality in communities, the Micro Bird’s diesel engine includes proven selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. In the SCR system, nitrous oxide gas is injected with diesel exhaust fluid, which reacts with the catalyst. That reaction breaks the nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions down into harmless nitrogen and water vapor. These components are a pure and natural part of the air we breathe. The nitrogen and water vapor then pass harmlessly through the tailpipe.

Diesel emissions are 90 percent cleaner than they were in 2006. The diesel engine in the T-Series runs on ultra-low sulfur fuel.

Quality

The Micro Bird T-Series features a narrow body, providing increased aerodynamics and responsiveness. A six-speed automatic transmission delivers low-end acceleration and high-end efficiency. The bus offers a 25-gallon fuel tank in both gasoline and diesel formats.

This model seats up to 25 passengers in four or five row configurations. With an optional lift and seating plan, the bus can accommodate a wheelchair to fill a variety of student needs.

Aluminum side-body panels create a bus that’s inexpensive to repair and built to last. Superior insulation throughout the bus absorbs road noise and helps prevent condensation and corrosion.

Among the long list of options are electronic sleeping children monitoring system, air conditioning, wheelchair lift, vandal lock system and audio / public address systems.

Advances in serviceability make the Micro Bird T-Series a bus with built-in longevity and solid dependability year after year.

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)

Blue Bird understands that budget is a key factor in bus choice. Calculating total cost of ownership (TCO) allows decision-makers to select vehicles with confidence. Initial purchase price, fuel costs, maintenance costs and projected lifespan all impact TCO. Micro Bird buses are built with the best-quality materials to reduce maintenance costs and save money in the long run.

The T-Series is maintenance-friendly with easily accessible engine, wiring and electrical compartments. Time saved on maintenance tasks means lower costs for school districts.

Choose from either a fuel-efficient 3.7L gasoline or 3.2L diesel engine. Using one of these readily available fuels and standard gasoline and diesel formats makes it easy to refill and to find qualified mechanics. In addition, the T-Series’ aerodynamic design ensures greater fuel economy.

You can count on our high-quality vehicles for the long run. All Micro Bird bus bodies come with a 5-year limited warranty. All these factors combine to further reduce TCO for T-Series buses.
